Big Red Recap:
It was more basketball for the Big Red on Tuesday night as the MS boys teams as well as the JV and Varsity boys were all in action. The MS teams hosted Western Reserve to wrap up their regular seasons and both of the 7th and 8th grade teams lost nail biters by one point to the Roughriders. The 7th grade ends the regular season with a 3-12 record while the 8th grade finishes at 6-9. Both teams will head into their respective conference tournaments on Saturday.
The JV and Varsity boys traveled to Wynford for their 2nd road non-conference game in as many nights and both came away with tough losses to the Royals. The varsity again trailed for most of the game but battled and just could not get over the hump and grab a lead. Wynford pulled away during the 4th quarter for the 63-49 win as the Big Red fall back to 8-9 on the season. They will get a much needed couple days off before being back in action on Friday hosting Monroeville.

Big Red Recap:
It was a busy Monday night of basketball action for the Big Red as both the HS girls and boys teams were in action along with the MS boys. Unfortunately it turned out to be a rough night for all teams as the Big Red got swept across the board. The MS boys hosted Mapleton and both the 7th and 8th grade teams lost close tough games to the Mounties. They will look to bounce back as they are right back in action tonight again at home hosting Western Reserve.
The JV and Varsity boys traveled to Crestline for a non-conference matchup with the Bulldogs rescheduled from last week and both lost tough games. After coming off of the big weekend and winning three in a row the varsity struggled to keep the positive momentum and would trail the Bulldogs from start to finish. They did cut the lead to one point going into the 4th quarter but Crestline was able to make enough plays and pulled away for the 48-40 win over the Big Red. The loss drops the Big Red back to .500 on the season at 8-8 overall and they will continue their busy schedule tonight back on the road at Wynford.
The JV and Varsity girls hosted Western Reserve as both teams lost to the Roughriders. The varsity game was again a low scoring physical battle as was the case when the two teams matched up last time at Western. This time the Lady Big Red could not overcome the tough defense and poor shooting night as they lost by a 27-17 final score. They drop to 5-12 overall and 4-7 in conference play and will be back in action on Thursday at New London.

Big Red Weekend Recap:
It was another busy weekend for the Big Red as the winter sports season has passed the midway point and is headed down the home stretch of the season. Almost all of our winter teams were in action over the weekend. It all started on Friday night as the JV and Varsity boys basketball teams hosted Mapleton on Friday night and celebrated Military Appreciation Night. The JV team fell to the Mounties before the varsity came out and played what was probably their best overall game from start to finish all season as they led from wire to wire against the Mounties and cruised to a 62-43 win avenging an early season loss to the Mounties. Then on Saturday night the Big Red were right back in action at home again hosting Western Reserve and it was more of the same as the JV team lost before the varsity came out looking to avenge another earlier loss. This time it wasn't as easy as both teams struggled to find consistent offense and battled each other on the 2nd night of a back to back. The Big Red defense came up big late in the game as Western Reserve had a couple opportunities to tie and/or win the game at the buzzer but could not find the hoop as the Big Red survived with a 44-42 win over the Roughriders making it 3 conference wins in a row. The wins improve them to 8-7 overall on the season and 5-5 in conference play. They will continue their very busy stretch and will be right back in action tonight traveling to Crestline.
The MS girls basketball team was in action on Saturday morning in the firelands conference tournament at Crestview and took on New London in the first round. It was a tough game for the Big Red as they could not find much offense, losing by a 22-10 final score seeing their season come to an end. These girls showed a lot of fight and grit this season as they dealt with low numbers and overcame a lot of adversity throughout the season and we are proud of them for how they represented the Big Red!
The MS boys basketball teams were also in action on Saturday morning hosting New London and came away with a split as the 7th grade picked up a nice win over the Wildcats while the 8th grade lost. Both teams will be right back in action tonight hosting Mapleton.
The Varsity girls were also in action on Saturday as they traveled to Monroeville in a varsity only contest. They battled the hot shooting Lady Eagles but could not keep up with their scoring and lost by a 53-30 final score. They drop to 5-11 overall and 4-6 in conference play and will be right back in action tonight hosting Western Reserve.
The MS wrestling team was in action on Saturday at Mapleton's JH Invite and again had some solid individual showings. Clayton Miller and Bentley Meade led the way with 3rd place finishes while Scott Schriner took 4th and Jayce Rogers took 5th. They will be back in action on Friday this weekend wrapping up their season at the firelands conference tournament at Monroeville.
The HS wrestling team was in action at Sugarcreek Garaway on Saturday. Noah Robinson led the way with a 2nd place finish while Hunter McClure and Zach Miller both took 3rd place and Lucas Distl took 4th. Big congratulations goes to Zach Miller as he earned his 100th career win on Saturday! They will be back in action on Wednesday this week at the "Battle of 61" super tri meet at Willard.
