Big Red Recap:
The Lady Big Red volleyball team entered into tournament play last night taking on Old Fort in the 1st round of the Division 7 Sectional/District tournament. The Lady Big Red came out and battled 3rd seeded Old Fort in a back and forth 1st set before falling 25-18. They would go on to lose set two 25-5 and then set three 25-12 to drop the match. They end their season with a 3-20 overall record.

Winter Sports Mandatory Pre-Season Parent/Team Meetings:
We are one week away from getting the winter sports season started with our pre-season parent/team meetings that are scheduled for Wednesday October 22nd at 6pm. Winter athletes who did not play a fall sport or attend the fall meeting will need to be in attendance for both portions of the meeting starting at 6pm in the HS gym along with a parent/guardian. Athletes who did play a fall sport and attended the fall meeting only need to attend the individual team meetings that will begin around 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing all of our winter athletes next Wednesday and getting the winter season underway!
Reminder to all 7th and 8th grade girls basketball players and parents - practice will begin on Monday next week and will run from 3-5pm in the HS gym. 7th and 8th grade girls that plan to play basketball are asked to please try to be at practice starting on Monday.

Our youth volleyball teams finished their seasons up. There was a ton of growth from start to finish. Both teams won several games in the season. The 6th graders had a tournament where they won the first game but fell in 3 sets the 2nd game. Thank you to Coach Bowman and Coach James for helping these girls grow their love and skills in volleyball. ❤️🏐❤️🏐

We are excited to announce that the Lady Big Red Girls Basketball team will be opening up their season on Friday Nov. 21st with a game at Rocket Arena in Cleveland as a part of the Cavs Elite HS hoops series! The Lady Big Red will take on South Central at 1:30pm before the Cavs take on the Indiana Pacers that evening. Lady Big Red players, coaches, parents, and fans will be able to spend the day in Cleveland and get to be a part of this exciting opportunity! Tickets are currently on sale to the general public and can be purchased using the link that is on the attached flyer. Please note, that everyone who enters the arena for the HS game will have to have a ticket to the Cavs game. Tickets purchased for the Cavs game are 2 for 1 and are good for the HS game but there is no ticket option just for the HS game. Parents and families are reminded that we will be making one large group ticket purchase for all team members and that will include our 7th and 8th grade team members so families do not need purchase tickets for their daughters that will be with the team. Anyone with questions regarding this event can contact Coach Hockman or Mr. Calame.

The Big Red football team is excited to recognize all of our flag football players and coaches at next Fridays home football game against South Central. All flag football players (k-6th grade) are invited and will be a part of pre-game festivities including running onto the field with the Big Red! Youth cheerleaders are invited as well. Please wear your uniform/shirt and you will be admitted free of charge into the game.

Big Red Weekend Recap:
It was a busy weekend for the Big Red as the fall season begins to wind down and end of season league tournaments and post-season begins.
The Big Red Football team got the weekend started on Friday night as they traveled to Monroeville for a conference matchup with the league leading Eagles. The Big Red came out and battled the Eagles in the 1st quarter and forced a turnover on the Eagles first play from scrimmage but could not get much offense going before the Eagles got on the board with a late 1st quarter TD to start the scoring. They would hold a 35-0 lead at halftime before scoring 3 more TD's in the 2nd half to take down the Big Red 55-0 as the Big Red drop to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in conference play. After 3 straight road games they will return home for the final two weeks of the season and will host Western Reserve this week.
On Saturday morning, the cross country teams continued their season competing in the Firelands Conference Championship at New London High School. The high school boys team finished 5th. Audrey Smith finished 2nd Team All-Conference. Kristi Yeager and Carter Jester both finished Honorable Mention All-Conference.
For the high school boys...

Weston Smith finished 23rd in a time of 19:57.25
Trevor Furr finished 35th in a time of 21:36.30
Levi Foley finished 42nd in a time of 22:43.93

Week 8 Football and Conference Cross Country!
Good luck to the Big Red football team tonight as they travel to Monroeville for their week 8 matchup with the Eagles. Kickoff is set for 7pm at Monroeville's Marsh Field. Reminder to all fans that Marsh field is located in town and is not on Monroeville's school campus.
Good luck as well to the Cross Country teams as they compete in the Firelands Conference championship meet tomorrow morning at New London. The first race (HS Girls) begins at 9am. The meet will be held on New London's school campus.
