Athletic News! Big Red Weekend Recap: The Big Red football team traveled to Mapleton on Friday night and it was the tail of two halves with the Mounties. The Big Red struggled to get things going on both sides of the ball as the Mounties took control of the game with three different first half rushing TD's after long drives to take a 20-0 lead into the halftime. The Big Red were a completely different team coming out of the locker room after halftime and after forcing a 3 and out on defense they would find some momentum on offense and found the end zone on an Ethan Keefe rushing TD to make the score 20-7. The Big Red and Mounties would trade a few defensive stops back and forth before the Big Red defense came up big with a Kaden Caughenbaugh strip of the Mapleton running back in which he would return for a TD with just over 4 minutes left in the game to make the score 20-13. Unfortunately the Mounties would secure a couple more first downs to seal the game away as the Big Red dropped another heartbreaker after battling back in the 2nd half. They drop to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in conference play and will return home to host Crestview on Friday night. The JV and Varsity volleyball teams hosted Hillsdale on Saturday morning and both fell to the Falcons in straight sets. They will be right back in action tonight hosting Crestline in another non-conference matchup. The Cross Country teams traveled to the Buckeye Central Invite and the girls team came in in 6th place while the boys finished in 10th place. Morgan Follett led the way with a 5th place finish in a time of 20:58 while Audrey Smith took 31st, Anna Caughenbaugh took 41st, Aly Lewis took 55th, and Kristi Yeager took 57th. Dallas Thompson led the way for the boys with a 40th place finish in a time of 20:21. Colton Sundstrom followed in 49th place while Zach Miller (63rd), Luke Kelbley (85th), and Jack Kelbley (87th) rounded it out for the boys. Weston Smith led the MS runners with a 4th place finish in the MS boys race while Carter Jester took 10th and Gabe Tackett took 61st. Ari Miller took 72nd in the MS girls race. They will all be back in action on Saturday this weekend at the New London Dan Olien Invite.

Athletic News! In August, both the middle school and high school volleyball teams participated in their annual servathon. This fundraiser requires each player to set goals for themselves, receive pledges per serve in bounds, or a flat donation amount. The money raised goes to future purchases of uniforms, equipment, and training camps. This year our donations/ pledges were so generous and the volleyball staff sincerely appreciates your support, and we would like that thank you for allowing us to continue to grow. We would also like to congratulate our 2024 top servathon earner, Freshman, Sienna Kennison. Congratulations Sienna & Go Big Red

Athletic News! Big Red Recap: It was another eventful Thursday for our Big Red fall sports teams. It started during the day as the golf team competed in the division 3 sectional tournament at Valley View GC. While unfortunately the season came to a close as no one was able to advance it was another positive performance and evidence of their continued improvement throughout the season. Colton Hass led the way for the Big Red with an 85 while Cole Back followed with a 97. Carson Lewis (103), Lucas Distl (108), and Trevor Furr (134) rounded it out for the Big Red as they shot a team score of 393 which was good for 8th place in the 12 team sectional. Congratulations to the Big Red on the improvement they showed throughout the season! The MS Volleyball teams hosted New London and came away with a sweep of the Wildcats both winning in straight sets to continue their good seasons. They will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Mapleton. The JV and Varsity Volleyball teams traveled to New London and both fell to the Wildcats. The JV team forced 3 games before the varsity fell in straight sets. They will be right back in action tomorrow morning hosting Hillsdale in non-league action. The MS Football team hosted Mapleton and lost another tough game to the Mounties. They will look to rebound next week when they take on Crestview.
