Big Red Recap:

The Big Red football team traveled to New London on Friday night to take on the Wildcats in week 7 conference play and it was a big night for the Big Red as they defeated the Wildcats and picked up their first victory of the season! The Big Red controlled the line of scrimmage from start to finish and used a methodical, run dominated offense to dominate the time of possession and keep the ball away from New London. The Big Red took the opening kickoff and used the ground game to go on a long opening drive that took up much of the 1st quarter. The drive was capped off by a Ben Trimmer TD run that made the score 6-0. The Big Red then used to defense to extend it's lead; Lincoln Distl intercepted a pass on the New London's 1st possession and then after the Big Red's offense stalled out and the Wildcats got the ball back it was Cullen Mason's turn to intercept a Wildcat pass and return it for a Big Red TD to make the score 12-0. New London would get on the board on their next play with a long TD pass to make the score 12-6. The score would remain right there until the 8 minute mark in the 4th quarter when the Big Red used another long time consuming drive to extend the lead to 20-6 on an Lincoln Distl QB TD run and an Isaiah Miller 2 PT conversion run. New London would add another TD to keep the game close before the Big Red again used the run game to run out the clock and find victory formation with the 20-12 win over the Wildcats. The Big Red are now 1-6 overall on the season and 1-3 in conference play and will travel to Monroeville this week.

On Saturday, the JV and Varsity Volleyball teams were in action with early morning non-league games at Rittman and came away with a split. The JV won in 2 straight sets while the varsity lost in 3 straight sets. They will head into the final week of the regular season this week and will travel to Western Reserve on Tuesday.

The Cross Country teams were also in action on Saturday morning at New London's Dan Olien Invite. Kristi Yeager was the only individual to compete in the 5k race and placed 35th with a time of 25:09. In the 2 mile races, Audrey Smith took 5th in a time of 14:07 for the girls while Aly Lewis took 18th with a time of 16:38. For the boys, Carter Jester led the way with a 33rd place finish in a time of 12:55 while Levi Foley took 53rd and Luke Kelbley took 59th. Ari Miller represented the MS girls with a 64th place finish. The teams will now turn their attention on the conference meet that will be held on Saturday this weekend back at New London.

Parents,
As we start entering the cooler months I want you to be aware of the different programs that are available for those who meet income guidelines. These resources will benefit those with gas and electricity for heating purposes. Below is how you can create an account and submit applications.

Utility Assistance- OHID.ohio.gov
You will Create a new account. Setting up a Username and Password
You will then be sent to a dashboard where you can add apps to your account.
You will search for the ENERGY ASSISTANCE PORTAL. Add this to your Apps.
Once Added you will click on this and it will take you to a brief overview page. You will go down to the section that says APPLY FOR AID. You will fill in all parts of this document. You will be required to submit forms requested. Birth certificates for everyone in home, Pay stubs, current utility, rent and home expenses. You will mark whether you would like to apply for emergency assistance, Heap or Pip. This is for electric/ gas or both. If you need assistance with any of this please reach out and I can do this with you at the school.
You will then submit the document for review. You can check the status of this by going back into the app. Instead of going to apply for aid you will go to view my applications. You will also be contacted via phone and email with any new updates.

For more information, please contact Ashley Bowman at abowman@plymouthk12.org
