Military Appreciation Night
January 24th, 2025
The Plymouth Athletic Department will be sponsoring a Military Appreciation Night on Friday January 24th during the home boys’ basketball game against Mapleton. All current and former United States Military will be admitted free to the game and will be recognized by announcement before the start of the Varsity game. We will be working with the student section and PHS Cheerleaders to coordinate a “USA” theme as fans are encouraged to wear Red, White, and Blue.

This Saturday's girls basketball game at home against Lucas will now be varsity only starting at 1pm. Lucas is unable to play JV due to low numbers and injuries.
Big Red Recap:
The JV and Varsity boys basketball teams hosted Bucyrus last night in a non-conference matchup. Both games were close low scoring affairs that went down to the wire. The JV team came back from an early deficit to win in overtime by a score of 43-39. The Varsity game was then a low scoring defensive battle as both teams struggled on offense from both the field and free throw line. The game never saw more than a 5 point advantage from either team as the Big Red were able to hang on for a 41-38 win over the Redman. The Big Red improve to 5-5 overall on the season and will be back in action on Friday at St. Paul.

Today is National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day 2025!

The Horatio Alger Association scholarship application is now open for students graduating in 2026!
The Horatio Alger Association seeks to assist students who have demonstrated integrity, perseverance in overcoming adversity, strength of character, financial need, a good academic record, commitment to pursue a college education, and a desire to contribute to society.
Eligibility Criteria:
Be enrolled full-time as a high school junior, progressing normally toward graduation in 2026 with plans to enter a college in the US no later than the fall of 2026
Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor's degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the US.
Demonstrate financial need ($65,000 or lower gross family income is required)
Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities
Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity
Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0
Be a citizen of the United States
Application deadline is March 1st.

Attention Track Athletes!
There will be a short meeting in Coach Anderson's room tomorrow, Thursday 1/9 for anyone interested in or planning on running track this spring right at the beginning of the lunch period at 12:20. Please report to Coach's room before going to lunch. The meeting will only last a couple of minutes.

Today's MS girls basketball game at home vs Monroeville has been cancelled due to low numbers, illness, and injuries. There is no decision on rescheduling the game at this time. The MS girls will now practice from 3:15-4:15 today in the elementary gym.

Last night's cancelled freshman boys basketball game at home against Western Reserve has been rescheduled for Monday 1/27 at 5pm. This will be played before the JV/Varsity girls game against Western Reserve that is scheduled for that night. We will adjust the start time of the JV girls game back to 6:30pm. It will be a two quarter game followed by Varsity.

SENIORS:
The Ohio District 5 Area Agency on Aging launched its 2025 Scholarship Program to support education in aging and disability services.
Foundation board will award three scholarships to people committed to positively impacting older adults and those with disabilities, according to a news release.
The program offers one $2,000 scholarship for a student attending a four-year university, and two $1,000 scholarships for students at two-year colleges or pursuing certifications.
Additionally, one $1,000 scholarship is available for retirees, staff members or their children and grandchildren associated with the Area Agency on Aging.
The application deadline is March 15.
