Big Red Recap: It was another busy winter sports weekend as January came to an end and we head into February and the home stretch of the winter sports season. The JV and Varsity boys basketball teams kept their busy stretch going with another double weekend hosting Monroeville on Friday and Lucas on Saturday. Both the JV and Varsity teams went 1-1 on the weekend and snapped losing streaks with wins over Lucas on Saturday night. Both teams lost to Monroeville on Friday before bouncing back with wins over the Cubs on Saturday night. The Big Red varsity battled through another tough shooting and offensive night playing their 6th game in a 9 day stretch. They jumped out to an early lead and would hold a small lead for much of the game before Lucas played a strong 4th quarter and took the lead away from the Big Red. After getting some key stops late in the 4th quarter the Big Red were able to tie the game at 41 and had the ball for the final shot to win it but it did not fall forcing the game to overtime. The overtime period was all Big Red from start to finish as they would outscore the Cubs 13-2 pulling away for the 54-43 non-conference win. After the weekend the Big Red are now 9-10 overall and 5-6 in conference play and will get some much needed rest before hosting New London on Thursday. The MS wrestling team was in Friday night action wrapping up their season at the conference tournament at Monroeville. Jayce Rogers led the way for the Big Red earning a 1st place and conference championship while Levi Foley and Clayton Tabor both earned runner up honors. Scott Schriner added a 3rd place finish while Bentley Meade took 5th place. We are proud of our MS wrestling team for all of their hard work this season! Both the 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams were in tournament action on Saturday morning in the 1st rounds of their respective conference tournaments. The 7th grade took a tough loss to St. Paul 21-16 while the 8th grade suffered a tough loss to Monroeville 33-28 as they both saw their seasons come to an end. We are also proud of our Big Red 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams for all of their hard work this season! The Varsity girls basketball team was also in action on Saturday night as they traveled to Crestview and took on the Cougars. After trailing 10-2 at the end of the 1st quarter the Lady Big Red would slowly claw their way back into the game closing the deficit to 18-12 at the half and 25-21 after the 3rd quarter. They would take a lead early in the 4th quarter before Crestview answered with a late run to eventually pull away for a 36-28 win over the Big Red. The Lady Big Red drop to 5-14 overall and 4-9 in conference play. They will be back in action tomorrow at Wynford.

Big Red Family! Preschool Registration Plymouth Shiloh Local Schools is opening preschool registration for the 2025/26 School Year. Students must be three prior to August 1, 2025 and may not be five prior to August 1, 2025. The district operates one classroom with a morning session and an afternoon session. The morning session is from 7:45 AM to 10:45 AM. The afternoon session is from 11:30 AM to 2:30 PM. Tuition is $100 per month. Families will be notified regarding placement for Fall of 2025 in the spring. The registration form is available on the district website. Athletic News! Tomorrow's JV girls basketball game at Crestview has been cancelled due to injuries and low numbers. The varsity game has been adjusted to a 6:15pm start time.

Athletic News! The 8th grade boys basketball tournament begins tomorrow at Mapleton. The Big Red have earned the 4th seed and will take on 5th seeded Monroeville in the 1st round at 10:15am. All games will be played in Mapleton's MS gym and will be rolling start times. With a win over Monroeville they would advance to Monday's semi-finals to take on top seeded New London.

FCCLA News! Monday FCCLA members went to see a Cavs game! They also spent part of their day listening to a professional speaker panel, community service keynote speaker and got an arena tour.

Athletic News! Big Red Recap: The Freshman boys basketball team returned to action on Thursday night hosting New London as they head down the home stretch of their season. They fell to the Wildcats by a score of 32-24 and will be back in action on Monday hosting Northmor. The JV and Varsity girls were also in action against New London as they traveled to take on the league leading Wildcats. The JV team saw their game end in a tie at 10-10 as both JV games with New London this year ended in tie's. The varsity came out firing in the 1st quarter and played right with the Wildcats to a 12-12 tie late in the 1st quarter before New London tightened up their defense and held the Lady Big Red to only two points in the 2nd quarter. New London would keep pulling away in the 2nd half and ran away to the 59-21 win. The Lady Big Red drop to 5-13 overall on the season and 4-8 in conference play and will be back in action tomorrow night at Crestview.

PHS News! Attention Seniors: Jostens will be here on Wednesday, February 5th, from 12-12:30 pm. to pass out your cap and gown orders and other graduation items. Seniors attending Pioneer will receive your items at the career center on a later date.

Elementary News! Mrs. Shaffer's 2nd grade class read a story about a boy who played drums called Drummer's Grove. Mrs. Allen loaned the students some drums so they could try them out!

Athletic News! Attached is the bracket and information for the 7th grade boys basketball tournament that will begin on Saturday at New London. The Big Red earned the 6th seed and will take on 3rd seeded St. Paul in the 1st round on Saturday morning at 10:15 in New London's HS gym. This is the 2nd of two games in the HS gym and could start sooner or later depending on how the first game goes.

Athletic News! Big Red Recap: The Big Red wrestling team saw some mid-week action and was the only Big Red team in action on Wednesday night as they traveled to Willard for the annual "Battle of 61" super tri meet with Willard, Shelby, and Galion. The Big Red went 0-2 as a team losing duals to Galion (58-24) and Willard (51-30). Noah Robinson, Thomas Winegardner, and Zach Miller all went 2-0 on the night to lead the team. They will have a little bit of time off before being back in action next Saturday at Margaretta's Stockmaster Invite.

PHS News! Attn: SENIORS Each year the Elton E. Mackin Detachment of the Marine Corps League offers a scholarship in the amount of $1500 to two qualified recipients. All information is listed below. Purpose: To grant a scholarship to two qualified applicants. In order of preference as follows: Sons and daughters of Marines who lost their lives in the line of duty. Sons and daughters of active duty Marines, Marine Corp Leaguers and/or Auxiliary members. Members of the Marine Corp League or an honorary discharge Marine in need of rehabilitation training not provided in government programs. To any relative of a Marine seeking further education and training. Children, grandchildren, nieces or nephews are herewith included. Requirements: 1. Applicants -new or renewal- must complete and submit the following: Scholarship application form Official copy of high school or college transcript with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale. Copy of Marine relative's proof of service or Marine Corp League membership number. Letter from applicant with a brief biography. 2. Students and only students may make a request for an application by writing directly to the scholarship committee any time after February 15 or by contacting their high school guidance counselor or if a college student, the Marine Corp League for an application. The completed application must be received by the deadline of April 1, 2025. 3. Scholarships can be awarded to two recipients. No exceptions. 4. The successful applicants will be awarded at the school Awards Ceremony. 5. Scholarship funds will be mailed directly to the winners upon completion of his/her first college term. If applicant is a college student, then the same rules apply. Winner and/or winners must inform the scholarship committee by letter with a copy of transcript and a minimum GPA of 2.0 and an address so the award may be forwarded. There is a 6 month time limit for completion of initial enrollment term and grade transmittal. This time limit can be extended only at the discretion of the scholarship committee. 6. Athletic News! MINI CHEER ANNOUNCEMENT Grades K-2nd will perform during the JV Game on Friday. We ask that they arrive between 530-545pm as the game starts at 6pm. They will perform in the stands during the game and also have a halftime performance. You will be required to sign your child in/out. They are welcomed to stay in our cheer stands during the varsity game as well! Grades 3rd-6th will perform during the Varsity Game on Friday. The girls may arrive before the JV game and are welcomed to sit in our stands during that game as well. However, they must be there between 630-645pm to be ready for the Varsity game that typically starts at 7pm. You will be required to sign your child in/out. REMINDER!
