Athletic News! Big Red Recap: It was a busy night on Monday night for the Big Red as many of our spring teams weathered the cold and windy conditions to get games and events in. The varsity baseball and softball teams opened up conference play at home taking on South Central and both came away with nice wins over the Trojans. The baseball team used a solid pitching performance by Jarrett Burrer combined with some timely big hits at the plate to run away from the Trojans to a 12-6 win as they improve to 3-1 overall on the season and 1-0 in conference play. They will be back at it on Wednesday against the Trojans at South Central. The softball team took a much different route to their first league win of the season after giving up 12 runs in the top of the 1st and trailing 12-0 before even coming to bat. That deficit wouldn't last long though as the Big Red would try to match the 1st inning scoring of the Trojans by plating 8 runs of their own in the bottom of the 1st. It would be back and forth the rest of the way before the Lady Big Red overtook the Trojans for the 18-17 marathon win. They improve to 2-2 on the season and 1-0 in league play and will also be right back at it tomorrow at South Central. The HS Track and Field teams traveled to St. Paul for a tri meet with the Flyers and Monroeville.... Jay's results The MS Track and Field teams were also in action traveling to Mapleton for Mapletons MS Track Challenge. The boys came in 5th place out of 7 teams while the girls finished in 7th place. Scoring points individually for the girls; Brielle Allen (6th place, 200 m dash), Bella Davis (7th place, 100 m dash), Mylah Whittington (7th place, 400 m dash), and Koree Conley (8th place, 200 m hurdles). The girls 4x100 and 4x200 m relay teams both also scored by taking 4th place. For the boys, Weston Smith led the way with a 3rd place finish in the 400 m dash and a 5th place finish in the 100 m dash. Liam Means added a 4th place finish in the high jump and a 5th place finish in the 200 m dash while Hemi Hicks added two 5th places in the 110 m hurdles and the shot put and Jax Tackett added a 4th place finish in the discus and a 6th place finish in the shot put. RJ Soblensky also scored in two events with a 7th place finish in the 200 m hurdles and an 8th place finish in the long jump. Ki Harris also added a 2nd place finish in the high jump as well. The boys 4x100 and 4x200 m relay teams also both scored by taking 3rd place. They will be back in action on Thursday traveling to Monroeville for a tri meet.

Athletic News! This past weekend, spring volleyball came to an end. Over 90 girls filled the gym and worked on learning and improving their volleyball skills. The growth over the past month has been so much fun to watch and be a part of. Thank you to all the coaches for taking time out of your busy schedules to pour into these girls. 🏐

Athletic News! Big Red Weekend Recap: Rain and mother nature definitely had its impact on this weekend's athletic events but we were able to get some baseball and softball games in on Friday night before the heavy rain hit. The varsity baseball team traveled to Willard to take on the Flashes and battled them in a low scoring pitchers duel before the Flashes plated a few late runs to pull away for the 5-1 win over the Big Red. The Big Red drop to 2-1 overall on the early season and are scheduled to open up conference play today at home against South Central. The varsity softball team hosted Colonel Crawford and could not get anything going with the bats falling to the Eagles by a 11-0 final score as they drop to 1-2 on the season. They are also scheduled to open up league play today at home with South Central. The JV softball team picked up their first win of the season with a 28-23 marathon win over Colonel Crawford. They are scheduled to travel to Clear Fork today.

PHS News! Student Spotlight Lance Rowe is this week’s spotlight student in Advanced PE/Weightlifting. Lance works hard every day and has seen the results of his hard work. He has improved his numbers in every exercise including bench press, squat, deadlift, and power clean. He is prepared for every class, finishes his workouts, has a great attitude, and is a pleasure to have in class. Great job and keep up the great work Lance! 🤩

Athletic News! We have made the decision to cancel and postpone tomorrow's track and field invite here at PHS due to the forecast of heavy rain overnight tonight and all day tomorrow. We plan to reschedule the meet for later in the season most likely during the week of 4/28. We will announce the exact date and time when that is decided upon.

Athletic News! The cancelled varsity baseball game vs Colonel Crawford has been rescheduled for next Thursday 4/10 at home with a 5pm start time.

Athletic News! Tomorrow's Varsity and JV softball games at home against Black River have been cancelled due the weather and forecasted heavy rain. It does not appear that these games will be able to be rescheduled. Both teams are still scheduled to play Colonel Crawford tonight at this time. Varsity at home and JV at Crawford. First pitches at 5pm.
